Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service which allows our patrons to obtain books or journal articles that Hackney Library does not own. We work with libraries all across the country to share materials that our patrons need. Requests for books and articles are usually free, and the lending library will send the entire book to be checked out to our patron.

Because these items come from other libraries and are often sent through the mail, there is normally a delay of seven to ten days before interlibrary loans are received. It is best to request interlibrary loans well in advance of the time a paper or project is due.

Because requested items can take up to 7-10 days to arrive, for fastest access, we recommend that you check Journal Finder first to see if we have access to the journal you want here at Barton. Don't know how to use Journal Finder? There are helpful instructions!

To request a book or journal article on interlibrary loan, patrons may fill out the electronic forms.

Please note that because of copyright restrictions, Hackney Library cannot borrow textbooks for classes via interlibrary loan. For current Barton students, the Barton College Bookstore offers the option to rent as well as to purchase textbooks for use in current classes. Please do not attempt to borrow these resources on interlibrary loan.

Interlibrary loans are limited to Barton College faculty, staff, students, Wilson County IB students, and Friends of the Library.
