A LibGuide created for use of Barton Students with information and help on proper citation in the APA and MLA styles.

Citation guides by style

Both the American Psychological Association (APA) and Modern Language Association (MLA) style manuals are on reserve at the library's circulation desk. Each provides numerous guidelines and examples of citations for a wide variety of resources (print, electronic, audio, etc.) In addition, a copy of the APA Style Guide to Electronic References, 6th edition, which updates the APA Publication Manual with more e-reference examples, is also available on reserve (as well as available electronically). These manuals may be checked out for use in the library only. Select a style below for online guides and additional information.

  • Purdue OWL
  • Hackney Library's APA Quick Reference Guide
  • APA Electronic Resource Guide
    • This Style Guide is an update to the official APA Publication Manual, 6th ed., and it contains many more examples of how to cite electronic resources in APA style. (Note: You must have access to Adobe Acrobat Reader software to view this publication, which is restricted to Barton college faculty, staff, and students. Barton login is required for access from off campus.) Due to APA restrictions, users may print copies for their personal use only
